A Folder Repository is associated to any number of network folders or directories containing any file type. Files whose content can be indexed (i.e PDFs, office type files, text files) will provide for content based retrieval while other assets will only be retrieved based on their file name and supported metadata.

The user manages the content and location of the digital assets using some file manager utility. With regards to content management, the Folder Repository has little functionality beyond providing a place were content can searched and little or no metadata is associated with each file. For management of content in a repository using the DAF Platform must be done using the DAF Repository.

With a Folder Repository you can quickly index files in your network and then move the files using Virtual FileRoom™ into a DAF Repository for management, preservation and collaboration.
